If you're flying into or out of Jacksonville, you've likely heard of the Jacksonville International Airport (JAM) situated north of Jacksonville, FL. It's a civil-military public airport located about 13 miles north of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The Jacksonville Aviation Authority manages and coordinates airport operations. The agency owns the passenger terminal building, the airport grounds, and road connections to the public highway system. In addition, the authority is a member of the Transportation Research Board.
The airport is served by several airlines. You'll find American Airlines, Allegiant Air, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, JetBlue, Silver Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, and USAir. Currently, FedEx Express, UPS Airlines, and Southwest Airlines operate flights from the airport. For ground transportation, you can use airport shuttles, rental cars, or a public bus. Rental car services are located on the lower level of the terminal.
Once you've made your way through security and are ready for your flight, check out the numerous amenities offered at the airport. There's a Delta Sky Club and a multi-airline club right behind the Food Court. The airport also features three art galleries before security checking. The JAX is also home to several public bus services. The JTA Line 4 bus connects downtown Jacksonville with the Amtrak Train Station. Alternatively, the JTA Line 4 bus service runs between the airport and downtown Jacksonville. JTA buses at JAX are located near Baggage Claim. Depending on your preference, you can ride one of these services for around $3. The taxi fare will vary, but the cost is generally around $35 or $50.
