The Catty Shack is home to over 35 different species of wildlife. These animals range from tigers and lions to coatimundis, bobcats, foxes, and horses. The Catty Shack Ranch is run by Curt LoGiudice, who started his career training police dogs. He soon began to work with exotic animals and eventually got a state and federal license. LoGiudice started his rescue mission while working as a representative of the Florida Panther Project in Jacksonville.
During the day, the sanctuary is open from 1 to 3 pm. At night, feeding time is offered between six and eight p.m. Nighttime tours are not offered every day. Tickets to tour The Catty Shack Ranch are available online with an affordable admission fee but you'll need to purchase tickets in advance to afford traffic.
Aside from providing safety to endangered cats, the organization is also dedicated to providing permanent homes for these animals and educating the public about the plight of the big cats. All animals at the sanctuary are given appropriate diets and fresh air. Moreover, they receive veterinary care that is dedicated to their wellbeing.
There are a variety of ways to get closer to the tigers and lions at the Catty Shack. Visitors can join a yoga session with the tigers at the sanctuary during the day or participate in a haunted forest tour at night. You can also enjoy the sounds of cougars and lions as you drift off to sleep. The sanctuary also offers volunteer opportunities for high schoolers. High school students can spend an afternoon or evening helping out at the sanctuary.
Despite the fact that the sanctuary is on grass and packed dirt, it is a wheelchair and stroller-accessible facility. Volunteers and staff are available to answer questions and give visitors an inside look at the rescued animals. The Sanctuary is a great place for families to spend the day with their children and get closer to nature. And as always, don't forget to bring a camera.
